The company was founded in 1989, to supply information technology solutions to the motor repair industry, and has been built on a solid foundation of unsurpassed industry experience and knowledge.

In those early times, the founder of the company saw the need for a computerised estimating solution that could calculate an accurate, fair, and reasonable cost for repairing accident damaged vehicles. That initial product, know as CoRE (Computerised Repair Estimating) was developed with the full co-operation and input of assessors, insurers, and repairers. That collective effort produced a suite of software applications, which fully satisfied the requirements of the whole industry.

From those early days, Motex has continually strived to produce IT solutions that lead the market with products such as EasiEst, Price-IT, Check-IT and VIS-IT, and many more. Motex also provides industry data solutions with, quite possibly, the largest body of vehicle repair and parts price data available anywhere in the world.

In 2004 the founder of the company retired. The new management team widened the company's horizons by offering its capabilities and expertise to clientele requiring bespoke software development and website design. This diversification has been a great success, with Motex winning contracts with Honda and RAC.
